As I have now hung up the winter Snowboard gear from my backcountry adventures and I now find myself starting to film and do more activities that don’t involve snow. In fact I started a new group called Surfing Canada dedicated to bringing the  Canuck surf community together with Social media.

Every spring I begin thinking about summer adventures and I was so excited at the discovery of Alberta’s first Surfing style training Studio. This unique fitness destination is bound to start a tsunami of followers flocking to this new style of fitness training.

Our program is not just for surfers, its for anyone wanting a fun exciting workout that is creative and exciting, but in the end you get your sweat in. -Mallory Chapman

I have come across what I think is one of the coolest off season training ideas of all time. It’s a unique approach by owner Mallory Faul Chapman of Studio Revolution Fitness.

Its part Cross Fit / a bit of Yoga and surf training complete with wobbly surfboards to mimic being on a surf board.

SURFSET® is the world’s most unique workout, combining elements of aerobic fat burning, lean muscle build, and balance & core training in one 45 minute routine on top of a custom made unstable surfboard. Our fitness team draws inspiration from the adventurous spirit of surfing, and each workout is designed to push your limits for ultimate results. – Studio website

Now I am a day away from heading to Mexico with surfing on the brain, and like a lot of snowbirds in Alberta we travel to surf.

There is a surprising amount of people who are really into the lifestyle. This is clearly a direct hit for me and don’t think I am going to be alone. Already a few days into opening her doors she has some sell outs already.

Lead by an instructor you and your class mates sweat while hearing how each posture and movement relates to help you with surfing. Its a really nice distraction as you are thinking of other things, and keeping you mind off of how much of a work out your getting.

The yoga, well is not just yoga.. some of the poses your doing right on the un-stable surfboard. Furthering your need for focus and burning more calories while improving balance.
